Millions of beneficiaries are currently receiving their monthly Child Support grant payments, however, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has acknowledged that their current social disbursement model presents several challenges.

South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in distributing social grants to beneficiaries. Specifically, the mentions challenges with the current payment model, including long queues, an ineffective queuing system, and overlapping appointments at SASSA branch offices. These challenges have resulted in payment delays, which can be a significant problem for beneficiaries who rely on these grants to meet their basic needs.

To address these challenges, SASSA is working on digitizing the payment process and enabling bank changes. This means that beneficiaries will be able to visit a SASSA branch and choose their preferred bank through which they’ll be able to collect their grant payment.
