This page will explain how you can correct a NSFAS application that has received a “DHA Error” status.Students from poor and working-class backgrounds can apply for bursaries through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) to obtain tertiary education qualifications from public universities and technical and vocational colleges.

What A ‘DHA Error’ NSFAS Status Means

When you receive a “DHA Error” status on your NSFAS application, it means that the Home Affairs database did not find you (the applicant).

  • There is no appeal procedure for this status.
  • It is recommended that applicants contact DHA for assistance.
  • For NSFAS bursary applicants, it is important to ensure the ID number entered is correct to avoid receiving an unnecessary rejection message.

In addition, many applicants made the mistake of starting the application process by creating a myNSFAS account, according to the financial aid scheme. The students have not submitted an application for the NSFAS bursary by doing this.

By simply creating a myNsfas account, you do not qualify for funding, according to NSFAS. The funding application will be submitted through the student’s myNsfas account by logging in and following the instructions.

For students enrolled in tertiary education institutions and eligible for NSFAS bursaries, tuition and accommodation fees are covered. A meal allowance, transportation allowance, and textbook allowance will also be provided to these students.

Applicants for funding under the NSFAS for 2023 must submit their applications by 31 January 2023. Application deadlines are fast approaching, so students should submit their applications soon.
