The United States Will Soon Begin Collecting SNAP Benefits

Key Requirements for SNAP: To qualify for SNAP benefits, applicants must adhere to specific criteria, including gross and net income limits, resources, and other factors.

Payment Schedule for August 2023:

• Kentucky: 2 payment days scheduled for August 18-19.
• Tennessee, Washington, Ohio, and New Mexico: These states have three payment days left, which are August 18-20.
• North Carolina, Michigan, and Mississippi: These states have four payment days, spanning from August 18th to 21st.
• Missouri: This state has 5 payment days, from August 18 to August 22.
• Delaware, Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, and Maryland: These six states have 6 payment days, from August 18 to August 23.

• Texas and Florida: Payments began on August 1, 2023, and will continue until August 28, 2023. In Texas, the Eligibility Determination Number (EDG) determines the payment schedule. If approved after June 1, 2021, and your EDG ends between 61-99, you can receive payments from August 16 to August 28. In Florida, the case number is used, specifically the 9th and 8th digits read in reverse. Numbers between 61-99 qualify for payments from August 18 to August 28.

Note: SNAP benefits are redeemable only at eligible grocery stores or farmers’ markets.

New Work Requirements for SNAP Recipients:

Starting September 1, adults up to age 49 must work or engage in a training program for at least 80 hours monthly to qualify for SNAP. Exceptions include:

• Pregnant individuals.
• Those with mental or physical limitations.
• Individuals living with children.

By October 1, 2023, the age requirement will increase to 52 years, and by October 2024, it will rise to 54 years.
