Payments are disbursed on four distinct days, categorizing retirees into four groups. But, broadly speaking, these four can be divided into two main groups. One group receives their payment on a single designated day, while the other group’s payment day varies among the remaining three days. Which category do you fall into?

Criteria for the Upcoming Social Security Payment

There are two overarching groups of retirees:

1. Pre-1997 Retirees: Beneficiaries who started receiving Social Security before 1997 consistently get their payment on the 3rd day of each month, barring a few exceptions.
2. Post-1997 Retirees: This group is further segmented into three based on their birth dates:
   • Born between the 1st and 10th: Payment on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.
   • Born between the 11th and 20th: Payment on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.
   • Born between the 21st and 31st: Payment on the 4th Wednesday of the month.

For August, the focus is on the 4th Wednesday, which falls on the 23rd. Thus, only post-1997 beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st will receive their check on this day.
