SASSA Internships Available for 100 Unemployed Youth. The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is offering internship opportunities for 100 unemployed young individuals across the country. This 18-month program, conducted in collaboration with the Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (HWSETA) and Wits Health Consortium (WHC), provides valuable workplace experience and pays a monthly stipend of R3500.

The internship program spans 18 months and is designed to facilitate the practical application of knowledge acquired through N6 theory studies at TVET Colleges.

Main Purpose of the Internship

The primary objective of the internship is to provide unemployed learners with workplace experience in their respective fields of study, fostering their professional growth. The program focuses on areas such as HR, Finance, Business Administration, Communications, Customer Care, ICT, and related fields.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the internship:

  • Possession of an N6 Certificate or statement of results from a TVET College
  • A letter from the TVET College confirming the learner’s requirement for 18 months of work experience
  • South African citizenship and residence in proximity to the designated SASSA office
  • Unemployed status


Interns will receive a monthly stipend of R3500 for the duration of the 18-month program.

Learner Responsibilities

Interns are expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Successfully complete a minimum of eighteen months of workplace training at the assigned SASSA office
  • Adhere to all administrative requirements of the internship in a timely manner
  • Ensure timely completion of their log book under the supervision of a mentor at SASSA
  • Provide support to the management team as directed by their mentor
