SASSA Grant Payment Schedule for February 2024. Millions of individuals are set to receive grant payments in February 2024, and the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has unveiled the payment dates for various grants.
SASSA Vital Role in Supporting Vulnerable Individuals
Sassa plays a critical role in supporting vulnerable individuals and families by disbursing over 19 million permanent grants monthly on behalf of the South African government. These grants cover essential goods and services and include categories such as the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up, and Grant-in-aid.
February 2024 Grant Payment Dates
In preparation for the upcoming month, Sassa has confirmed the grant payment dates for February 2024. While Sassa typically aims for consecutive payment days, there will be a departure from this practice in February due to the agency not processing payments on weekends.
- Older Persons Grant: 2 February 2024
- Disability Grants: 5 February 2024
- Children’s Grants: 6 February 2024
Note: Delay for Disability and Child Support Grants
Beneficiaries of Disability and Child Support grants should be aware that their grant payments will be processed in the second week of February 2024.
Outstanding January 2024 Grant Payments
In January 2024, Sassa temporarily suspended grant payments for over 150,000 beneficiaries due to inconsistencies in their details. The discrepancies included mismatched ID numbers with bank records, inaccurate banking details, and alterations in grant payment methods.
The Auditor General (AG) brought attention to this issue, leading Sassa to take decisive action to ensure accurate grant disbursement. Individuals who did not receive their January 2024 grant payment but are found eligible will receive a double grant payment in February, covering both their outstanding January 2024 and February 2024 grant payments.
Collection of Grants
Grant beneficiaries have the option to collect their grants from ATMs and retail stores such as Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, and Boxer. Additionally, Sassa beneficiaries can opt for direct payment to their bank accounts for added convenience.
