Over 1 Million Applicants of SASSA SRD Approved But No Payment here is why

According to reports, more than 1 million South Africans approved for the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant have not yet received payment as of January 2023. As the economy in South Africa struggles and vulnerable populations are affected by the pandemic, this is a worrying development.

Over 1 Million Applicants of SASSA SRD Approved But No Payment here is why

Several of these approved applicants have been given pay dates, while others have not been told when to expect payment. As a result, many families have been left in a dire situation, relying on the SRD R350 grant to support their families.

SRD R350 grants are crucial lifelines for many vulnerable South Africans who have been impacted by the pandemic. The grant was designed to provide temporary financial relief to those suffering from the pandemic, and it is unacceptable that so many approved applicants have not yet been paid.

SASSA and other Civil Societies should prioritize the payment of approved applicants and provide regular updates on the progress of the payment process. In addition, we urge the government to provide additional resources and support to expedite the payment process, as this is a matter of urgency for many families.
