Maui Wildfire Victims to Receive Critical Assistance

In a significant development, the Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS) has announced the launch of the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). This program is aimed at providing much-needed assistance to households directly affected by the devastating Maui wildfires in Kula and Lahaina.

Program Dates and Eligibility

The D-SNAP program is scheduled to run from Monday, September 18, through Saturday, September 23, offering relief to those who have suffered the consequences of the wildfire disaster. Notably, approximately 16,000 households, which may not typically meet the eligibility criteria for the regular Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), now have the opportunity to qualify for D-SNAP assistance.
