August 2023 Sassa Grant Payments Dates and Where to Collect Grant
Approximately 18 million South Africans benefit from permanent grants distributed by Sassa. Grant payments can be collected from several different entities.Permanent grants include Older Person grants, Disability grants, War Veterans grants, Care Dependency grants, Foster Child grants, Child Support grants, Child Support grant top-ups, Grant-in-aid grants, and SRD grants (R350).
Each month,these grants are paid to beneficiaries on the first week of the month. The second day of every month marks the beginning of payments. The grant will be distributed on the following working day if the second day falls on a weekend or public holiday.

Beneficiaries of permanent grants have the option of having their grants deposited directly into their bank accounts. It is a convenient grant payment method since beneficiaries can access their money at any time after the payment is made by Sassa.
Select retailers throughout the country receive Sassa grants. Retail outlets are widely distributed across the country, making it easy for grant recipients to find one near their homes. Whenever the retail outlet is open, beneficiaries are able to withdraw their money.The following companies distribute social grants: Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Boxer stores, Usave stores, and Checkers.
The Post Office
Post office branches throughout the country are open to beneficiaries who wish to collect their grants. Their grants, however, can only be collected during predetermined time frames and on official payment dates.
Mobile cash pay points are also available for grant beneficiaries to collect their money. Beneficiaries are only able to collect grant payments during a grant payment cycle and this is not a flexible payment option.Sassa announced in May 2023 that it would extend the validity of gold cards until the end of the year. In the near future, millions of Sassa gold cards will expire.Additionally, Sassa introduced a system for beneficiaries to use their Sassa cards to collect their money.
